Neo-noir driving thriller from UK studio Archangel Softworks arrives with expanded features, high-speed missions, and full accessibility buildout.
31st March 2026 – UK indie developer Archangel Softworks is excited to confirm that their story-rich driving thriller Highway Noir will launch for PC via steam today. Set in a city soaked with crime and corruption, Highway Noir puts players behind the wheel as a freelance driver pulled into the criminal underworld after a job goes wrong.
In Highway Noir, you play as a former driver for the Major Crimes Agency who was blamed for a failed operation and forced out. Now you’re working as a driver for hire in a city ruled by crime syndicates and underhand deals.
No matter where you go, every job pulls you deeper into a conspiracy that leads back to the agency that double-crossed you. A mysterious contact known only as ‘Merlin’ offers information and a chance for revenge, but trusting him could be just as dangerous as going it alone.
As you speed through breakneck pursuits and risky deliveries, your moral choices will unfold across a cinematic story campaign inspired by action films – think The Driver (1978), The Transporter (2002), and Drive (2011) – and gritty neo-noir storytelling.
You were framed. Now every mile brings you closer to the truth.
Since its initial announcement in November 2025, Highway Noir has expanded with new enemy types, dramatic set-piece missions, a takedown-focused gameplay system, and deeper progression which allows players to level up and unlock better vehicles.
Instaplay mode is built for quick runs, so players can jump straight into the action with a single click, while still having plenty of settings control.
Players can choose from objectives including pursuits, races, survival missions (or just driving through the city without a set goal), then adjust traffic, weather, road size, and how aggressively they’re chased. Settings can be mixed up freely, so while one run might be a chill nighttime drive, the next could be a chaotic multi car chase with snipers and helicopters in the fray.
Fully voiced performances tie the story together by bringing the allies, informants, handlers, and shadows of the city’s criminal underbelly to life.
The game’s accessibility has also been extended beyond the previously announced features. Players will be able to access a “Story So Far” recap, low-vision mode, adjustable UI sizing, colour customisation, and configurable in-game colour coding.
Key Features:
- Race through rapid chases, escapes, and delivery runs across the neon-lit city.
- Level up and unlock better vehicles to take on high-risk contracts.
- Outrun new opponent types with a dramatic PIT takedown system.
- Cinematic conspiracy campaign mode centred on revenge and moral choices.
- Action inspired story missions with bespoke set pieces.
- Instaplay modes with customisable rules and quick restart sessions.
- Fully voiced story scenes with professional voice acting.
- Multiple ways to play including Pursuit, Escape, and Challenge modes.
- Extensive accessibility options with “Story So Far” recap, low vision mode, UI scaling and colour options, and customisable colour configuration.
“Developing Highway Noir has been one hell of a ride. I can’t wait for you all to get on the road and see what your revenge mission has in store for you.”
– Mike Parry, Highway Noir developer.
