ProtoGames have released a new demo for Spaceborn: Awakening as part of Steam’s Bullet Fest and June Next Fest.
8th June 2026 – Something has awoken in deep space. The new demo for Spaceborn: Awakening calls on players to defeat relentless waves of enemies in a new bullet heaven roguelite from ProtoGames. With Steam’s double whammy of Bullet Fest and Next Fest on the horizon, players will be able to get an early look at the galactic action ahead of the game’s anticipated release in July 2026.
In Spaceborn: Awakening, players find themselves trapped in an abandoned space station overrun by a corrupted army, surviving escalating waves of enemies while they build increasingly formidable character loadouts. Prepare for an exhilarating mix of relentless bullet heaven combat with a roguelite progression system, including weapon unlocks, evolving abilities, and class upgrades.
The latest demo offers players a galactic expanse of fresh gameplay and major updates. Having listened closely to community feedback, developers ProtoGames will be introducing controller support, a whole new perk system, wildcard anomalies and massive improvements across the board. Whether they’re already fans or have only recently awoken, players can anticipate an entirely revamped game in this new demo.
Choosing between experimental prototype tech weapons or mystical cosmic powers, players will create unique builds and playstyles during every run. Completing the game’s story mode also grants access to locked advanced abilities and expanded class options, giving players the chance to take their builds even further.
Developer Stathis Aposporis of Protogames wanted to thank those who played the original demo, in particular, for making this update possible. He stated that:
“This overhaul exists because of player feedback. The original demo gave us valuable insight into how players approached Spaceborn and helped highlight where the experience could evolve. That feedback directly shaped this new version. So if you played the demo… thank you.”
The brand new Spaceborn: Awakening demo is now available on Steam for Bullet Fest and Next Fest, with the full game planned for release in July 2026.
